CN Eye Tray

Christian Nyberg’s Charred Wood Eye Tray is shaped like a stylized eye or a leaf. Carved from solid wood and charred using Nyberg’s elemental technique—where hardwood embers are allowed to burn deeply into the grain before being scraped and re-fired—the tray carries the subtle memory of flame in every ripple and contour. A single brass dot punctuates one end, like a pupil or a point of focus, offering a gentle contrast to the deep blackened wood. At once symbolic and functional, this tray invites interpretation: a vessel of sight, a symbol of protection, or simply a beautifully balanced design object.
