African Shield / Stripes

This striking circular shield is a hand-carved piece inspired by traditional Kuba or Bamileke design motifs from Central Africa. Crafted from wood and adorned with a deeply grooved linear pattern divided into quadrants, the shield’s graphic design creates a bold visual rhythm while echoing the symbolic language of protection, identity, and cultural storytelling.

Shields like this were traditionally used not only in combat but also in ceremonies and as status symbols—often carried or displayed by warriors, chiefs, or community leaders. The repetitive linear carvings may represent elements of nature, social hierarchy, or spiritual guidance, depending on the regional origin.

While no longer used in warfare, these shields are now prized as wall art—bringing texture, history, and graphic presence into modern interiors.
