This 15.5” tall charred maple vase by Christian Nyberg is a bold yet graceful form that balances raw materiality with quiet refinement. Sculpted from solid maple, the vessel has been deeply charred using Nyberg’s signature method—placing hardwood embers directly onto the surface, allowing fire to carve into the wood before scraping and re-burning. The result is a rich, matte blackened finish that reveals subtle grain patterns and organic fissures shaped by heat. Topped with a gently fractured rim and softened curves throughout, the piece contains a hidden glass insert, making it functional for both fresh and dried florals.
